*** Ummiyyat

Naguib Surur (1932-1978)

Always wanted to put this extraordinary poem from the moment I published my blog. The pain you can feel reading this poem cannot be found anywhere else I believe.

It's only because of that amazing amounts of love / hate / anger / passion / pain / honesty that make it banned during his life & uptill now. Our sick society can't withstand his frankness & the way he take off all of our clothes & show us our wounds.

You can find the text file of the poem Here..

Also some parts of it were recorded by Suru's own voice, you can find them here..
01, 02, 03, 11, 12, 13, 14

Enjoy it.. :-)

Anytime ya fandem..:-)

The poem was written between 1967-1974. However, most of its parts are known to be written after 1969 when Naguib began his healing process from the time he was forced to be in Al-Abassya Hospital and faced the unhuman torture of all kinds.
